"When the process of a new life starts in a woman, nobody knows the
moment, and perhaps nobody should ever know." ~Elizabeth Rochat De La
Vallee
Just as each individual human being is different and each newborn baby
is different, each woman's journey through her pregnancy is it's own
unique experience. From nausea to edema, there are many discomforts that
may arise for a woman during this time and most of these conditions
receive little help from Western medicine due to its reliance on
pharmaceuticals, the majority of which are either untested or unsafe to
use during pregnancy. Therefore, women are told these are a normal part
of pregnancy. However, relief for many of these conditions is available
through the use of Chinese medicine, and with thousands of years of
clinical experience in obstetrics and gynecology, these methods are
considered safe for use in pregnancy when administered by a trained,
licensed professional.
At Bird & Bee Acupuncture, we have earned Continuing Education
credits from esteemed prenatal Chinese medicine masters such as Debra
Betts, LAc, and Sharon Weizenbaum, LAc. Further, our certification in
Childbirth Education and training in Breastfeeding Counseling provide us
a deeper insight into the physiologic processes of labor and birth as
well as keeping us up-to-date on current prenatal and postpartum
practices.
We have experience in treating many pregnancy related conditions,
including threatened miscarriage, pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH)
and pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, malpositioning (breech), and
post-term babies, among others. Most any condition that may arise during
pregnancy may be treated by Chinese medicine; rather than provide an
exhaustive list, please contact us for a free phone consult or email to
discuss your particular concerns.
Bird & Bee Acupuncture's Special Prenatal & Postpartum Protocols
Pre-Birth Acupuncture
Pre-birth acupuncture sessions are a
great way to prepare for labor and birth. Pre-birth acupuncture
treatments may include other modalities in addition to acupuncture
needles.
Our pre-birth recommendations are as follows:
- 1 treatment at the beginning of the 2nd trimester
- 1 treatment at the beginning of the 3rd trimester
- 1 treatment at 32 weeks
- 1 treatment at 34 weeks
- 1 treatment per week from 36 weeks until labor
The benefits of this protocol may include: increased chance of going
into labor on or near your due date, better positioning of your baby,
increased energy for labor, increased uterine tone, more responsive
cervix, and a more relaxed state of being for mom and baby.
The first nine months may be the most important in determining your
baby's health. Bird & Bee Acupuncture's safe and beneficial prenatal
treatments may help you and your baby make the most of this precious
time.
